Disentangling the transnational belongingness of children in and beyond a Danish school

The aim of this study is to unravel the multifaceted sentiments belonging which children who are born in Denmark but whose parents have direct personal experiences transnational migration can within and beyond Danish comprehensive public school system. empirical basis stems from fieldwork at one consists primarily interviews with (n = 19). This shows how language, religion, countries birth children’s play very different roles narratives belonging, which, turn, indicate that varying degrees accommodates aspects lives according well they fit into ‘Danishness’ prescribes. paper concludes by considering ways forward better understand counteract tendencies towards alienation, schools’ handling might entail.
